A special roundabout
Few days ago, while I was driving by to run an errand, I made a very pleasant discovery not far from my house: in spring, for a fortnight, an ordinary traffic divider in the center of a roundabout, on the edge of Milan's central area, unexpectedly transforms itself into a very lively meadow, populated by thousands and thousands of brightly colored country flowers
As I often do, I collected the most interesting photos in this Google Foto album |
It was a real attraction for those who, like me, are always looking for photographic ideas... at that moment I didn't have any equipment with me and I also was in a hurry, but as soon as I had the chance (this morning) I didn't miss to visit this place(*) (this time, however, carrying all what was needed for shooting it), an unexpected "city preview" of what the countryside offers, but only many kilometers further out
(*) the flowerbed is in Piazza Monte Titano, just beyond the railway underpass, in the Lambrate district
Of course, this beautiful flowerbed certainly did not arise spontaneously: a brief search on the net revealed to me that since 2015 this area, up until then kept as a green meadow, was chosen for an experiment conducted by a gardening company in agreement with the Municipality of Milan: in fact, it was sown with a particular blend of flowery meadow seeds not to be mowed, with the aim of reducing maintenance without losing its aesthetic quality
Technichal notes
To take these shots I used the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mk.II camera body with the following lenses:
-
- Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO (a versatile "standard zoom")
- Zuiko 75mm f/1.8 (the last - and very fast - lens that I recently added to my set)
I eventually performed some postprocessing using Photoshop, as usual
